Ms Motyer’s class have had a busy week! They visited the library, have been trying lots of fruit and vegetables with Food Dudes and have spent a lot of time outside skipping all the way to Spain with the skip around Europe challenge.
1st Class went on a wildflower scavenger hunt this week. They have been learning about wildflowers in Ireland. They found daisies, dandelions, wild garlic, primroses, buttercups, bluebells and many more!
Ms Foley/Ms O Dowd’s First class enjoyed May Day and took part in a wild Irish flower nature trail.
They found so many native Irish plants and wild flowers in the school grounds including; fushia, dandelion, clovers, cleavers, wild garlic, daisy, pansies, hawthorne, ivy, nettles, primrose, speedwell, dog rose and many more. Do you know how to identify any of these plants or flowers and what you can use them for?! 1st Class participated in the Write a Letter to my Future Self An Post Initiative. The children wrote letters to themselves about their interests and goals and will receive these letters back in May 2026. 1st Class then visited the post office to post their letters. They are looking forward to receiving them next year!
Ms. Duggan’s 4th Class explored 3D shapes this week. They created their own nets, making and designing cubes, pyramids, cylinders and cones!
Ms Duggan’s 4th class had a zoom call this week with Olympic gymnast gold medalist, Rhys McClenaghan, with Dare To Believe PTSB. It was great to see him speaking so positively about how he persisted with his Olympic journey, to become a gold medal winner!
On Wednesday 5th March, Ms. Duggan's, Ms. Carroll's, and Mr. Gallagher's classes all went to ESB Science Blast in the RDS to show off their hard work and dedication to ESB judges about their projects they created over the last few weeks!
Ms. Duggan's class explored osmosis, testing the question "Which liquid expands a gummy bear the most?". Ms. Carroll's class tried and tested out "Does the temperature of a football affect how far it travels?". Mr. Gallagher's worked together to find out "Is our class football made of the best material possible?". A great day was had and the judges were all delighted with their work! Well done, 4th Class!
