Ms. Foley's had frogspawn in the class, it turned into tadpoles and now we have froglets. Ms. Foley collected 7 eggs from Newbridge Farm in Donabate. They were put in an incubator. Chicks take 21 days to hatch. Two were eating eggs (infertile). Two did not hatch and we had three healthy chicks. We had a naming competition and the chicks picked their names by standing on them! Summer Fluffy Back, Eggypop and Choc Chick Cookie. We fed them and petted them and had them in our class. Then Ms. Foley brought them back to Farmer Joe in Newbridge Farm. We have been learning about Travel & Transport for Aistear. We were very lucky and had a visit from Pilot Eric who flies with Aer Lingus. He is Shane’s uncle! We set up the halla like an airport, everyone had a job to do. It was great fun, we even got to try on Pilot Eric’s hat and uniform. Finny our frog stowed away in his hat and flew to New York with him. What an adventure!! We were learning about the farm for Aistear. Shane’s Grandad is a beekeeper and he came to visit us and brought lot’s of honey from farm for us to try. He showed us how to do a bee dance and answered our questions. We are planting and growing! We have planted potatoes and onions in our school garden. We watered them and we will watch them grow.
