St. Laurence's NS would like to congratulate all the boys and girls who represented the school in the recent Cumann na mBunscoil football matches. They were a credit to the school.
A special thanks is also due to all the parents and guardians who drove to the matches. These matches could not have gone ahead without your support. St. Laurence's NS will be playing in a quarter final on Tuesday 12th May in our school pitch at 2pm.
We wish the team the best of luck! Since January we have been busy planning and organising our J.E.P. We had to do loads of planning, designing, creating advertisements, a jingle and lots more, but we had so much fun.
At last Wednesday 3rd April came. We all went into the hall and most of us made all sorts of icing colours blue, green, red and oreo. The blue wasn’t turning out as we planned but the green and red were amazing. Then we tried to make oreo icing and at first we thought it wouldn’t turn well but it did. We put the toppings in plastic bowls and set the drinks out. At 12 o’clock we finally got the show on the road. When the first class came in at 12 o’clock they all got very excited. Almost everyone bought a cupcake. We were very organised and polite to our customers. When the last class came, we were getting excited. As the last person came around to pay we all realised that our JEP journey was over. It was a lot of hard work but really fun. We felt proud of our class for working together and creating Cupcake Town. The finance team counted all the money and we made an excellent profit. We couldn’t believe that we had made 300 cupcakes that day. Everyone was shocked. We really enjoyed our JEP journey and have learned a lot about being entrepreneurs. We would also like to thank everyone who helped and supported us during our JEP project. By Ethan, Ava, Trina and Nida A very exciting final between Holland and Ireland was played out today in the Junior Soccer League. Holland were the victorious team on a scoreline of 1-0. Huge congratulations to the winning team, and everyone who took part from 3rd and 4th.
We would also like to thank all the teachers who helped to organise such a successful tournament, and a special thanks to Baldoyle Utd. who sponsored the medals and plaques. Make sure to check out the gallery! Reptile VisitThird Class have been learning about the rain-forest and the life cycle of reptiles and chicks. We were lucky to have a visit from Jamie Paul's sister and mam who own some reptiles. The class got to see two corn snakes (Kaa and Clio) and a chameleon up close. Some of the braver ones even petted them and had them on their hands!(They didn't feel slimy just cold and smooth.)The snakes look for the warmest part of your body and like to wrap themselves around you and cling on so they don't fall.Jamie Paul brought us in some snake skin from when the snake last shed it's skin
This week the children will be taking part in a range of different activities to foster and promote literacy within the school.
For the past four week the boys and girls in the senior building had exercise classes with fitness coach Glen. Glen taught us many different exercises and activities that we can do on our own, or in pairs and groups, that only take 15 mins. It was extremely enjoyable for all the boys and girls. Have a look at our gallery to see what we completed on the last day of the classes. 5th Class are continuing to engage in the JEP programme.
Ms. McLaughlin's class set up a cupcake sale and Mr. Quinn's class are in the process of designing keyrings. Today marked the retirement of Kelvin Troy, our beloved basketball coach. He will be sadly missed throughout the school by all the boys, girls and the staff. We count ourselves very lucky to have a former NBA player as coach to our students, and we would like to wish Kelvin the best in his retirement.
